A Really Good Book
I thought this was a really good book. I learned a lot about what life was like for Black people 50 years ago.It was really hard. They couldn't go to school or become doctors . When they were sick they couldn't go to hospitals. I didn't know about blood types until I read this book.

Every Young Man in America Needs To Read This Book!
This is the kind of book that should be in the hands of every young man in America. Drew overcame the odds and didn't complain. He just did it and lives were saved. My wife bought several copies of this book and gave it to all the boys in our son's scout troop.

My Science Club Loved This Book
My science club read this last week. I was surprised at how primitive medicine was just a few short years ago.

Reading about Dr. Drew and all the challenges he had to face made me more determined than ever to become a doctor.

I actually read the book without falling asleep! WOW!
It's about this really smart 17 year old guy. He gets in trouble. Meets agirl. Thinks his moms crazy around the end of the book. Then him and his mom our very happy at the end. They have a normal life. Terrific book. I've only read 1 or maybe 2 books that i had enjoyed. But i'm glad that I liked reading it because I want to try to extend my vocabulary to it's highest point. Read it. I promise you wont fall asleep.

I actually read the whole book without falling asleep. WOW!
When I think of reading, I think sleeping, yawning and boring. They make us read every single day. Their torchering us. And they say reading is good for your mind and for your health. I think bla bla bla. Get those books away from me. Groose! Now that I'm a teenager I know I need to extend my vocabulary to it's greastest point. Or I wont get any where in life. I was in the library one day looking for a book to read. I picked up a book called danger.com. It sounded interesting. I started reading it and it was an amazing book. I loved it. The best!!!

Hot Pursuit is HOT.
I just finished reading this book and I loved it. I don't want to give the whole story away, but it is about a boy who has a whole bunch of lies told to him(even by his mother) and is wanted to work for some hackers to take over the world. You think you know the story at first, but it twists around at the end and it all adds up. This is a must read for people who like mysteries and computers.

She is determended to bring a small familly happiness. Enjoy reading!

My Favorite Book
This was my favorite book I have ever read. When you start reading somewhere around the second page it gets very suspenseful. It is so full of suspense that you can't put it down until you finish it. Nancy does not get a lot of help from her 2 cousins, Bess and George, that usually help her on solving cases. There are 3 villains in this book. They are Nitaka, Anton and Mr. Wassel. Mr. Wassel is a purse snatcher, Nitaka steals things and Anton helps Nitaka most of the time. I really liked this book a lot.

Nancy Drew Book # 24 - The Best
I thought the book was very suspenseful and was very well written. I am doing a book jacket for a class project on it. It ill be interesting to see my review on the cover of my prospective of the book. I want to read the rest of the series of the books.

Getting Them Sober: You Can Help
Published in Paperback by Recovery Communications (June, 1994)

This book saved my life.
How unique every situation is. Yet how amazingly SIMILAR.

For years you lavish time, love, effort and money on your alcoholic. Around the time you realize they are truly killing themselves, you may also notice the situation is killing you.

Alanon was a waste of time except for hearing the horror stories of people who had spent whole lives living daily tragedies. This book was the wake-up call I needed. It paints no pretty pictures. It looks at the situation realistically. In fact, it is comforting in it's honesty.

You may stay. You may learn to detach with love. Or you may leave -- hoping they will change before it's too late for your relationship. That's what I did. I left, hopoing he'd seek help. (He didn't.) But I saved myself. And I am so much happier now.

Read this book. At least you will have an honest assessment of your situation as others have lived it. If nothing, it will give you a clearer picture of the issues and help you deal with it -- if continuing to deal with it is what you choose to do.

I could not have taken my life back without this book!
ANYONE living with an alcoholic needs to read this book! Before I read this book, I thought I was the insane one. After reading it I now completely understand the disease of alcoholism. After reading it I could understand why the alcoholic I was living with did the crazy things he did. Every scenario the author wrote about was happening in my household. If you live with an alcoholic, please, please read this book. If you apply the practices the author mentions you will finally have the peace of mind that you deserve!

It changed my life
I read this book wanting to get my husband to stop drinking, but I quit instead, over 5-1/2 years ago. No one told me I had a drinking problem (but then, my friends are all alcoholics themselves), but until I quit, I couldn't see that I did have a serious drinking problem. And my husband has cut back dramatically. You can't get them to quit drinking if you drink yourself. My thanks to the author for working a miracle in my life. I highly recommend this book. It succeeded where many other efforts did not. Buy this book, but if you don't buy it, just stop drinking. There is no down side to quitting drinking. And you'll be amazed at what awaits you when you get sober.

How to Create Power-Packed Ads, Brochures & Sales Letters that Make Money NOW!

Rises above the rest
Over the past year I have read, listened or watched some of the best teaching programs available. And I mean dozens ...! For a program that includes content, presentation and price all in one package this one can't be beat. This program is timeless, unless advertising and marketing takes a turn we can't see just yet. I don't think that will be happening for a while.

I am getting enthused about writing ads!
I am just begining my business and I bought Drew's book and tapes to help me write my advertisements. Drew's advise is shaping my company message. I make a hockey puck for ice hockey players to practice with when they are off the ice. My old message would have been about how great the pucks were. My advertising theme now is directed at helping hockey players improve their skills. My ads will include advise on shooting, passing and stickhandling. We will become the source for off ice practice and training information. We were already leaning towards this idea but Drew's information really confirmed the value of doing business this way. Drew's tapes have given me a lot of new ideas and I am looking forward to when I can actually start writing my ads.

How to Create Power-Packed Ads, Brochures & Sales Letters...
I have been in advertising for 15 years and I really wasn't expecting to hear something that I did not know. My specialty has been brand building vs. direct response. I am sitting here, head just spinning over the information that I have either never thought of or didn't remember from college. Who would have thought that someone who has advertised for a living for so long
would get so much information and I'm only on tape #3!

There is no fluff, no hype, just pure information and facts. I can't wait to hear the rest. I will be ordering Drew Eric Whitman's next book as soon as I'm done with this one!

The Art of Drew Struzan - Star Wars Portfolio

Author: Drew Struzan
Average review score:

A wonderful overview of Drew Sruzan's Star Wars Portfolio
I would highly recommend this CD-ROM to not only any Star Wars fan, but also any illustrator/artist. The program allows you to zoom in very close and see some of the techniques used by Mr. Struzan to achieve the wonderful results he is so famous for. It not only includes finished poster and book cover work, but also some of the beautiful preliminary sketches leading up to the finish. The only thing that I did not like was that the CD only showed Drew's Star Wars stuff. He has done a remarkable amount of superb work that isn't touched on at all.

Finally...a light at the end of the tunnel
As an illustrator I have always been in awe of the art of drew, and now Iam also in awe of the man himself. To all artists who feel that humanity has abandoned the feeling and emotion in artwork to jump on the computer bandwagon then this cd is for you. Drew's amazing illustrations and encouraging words of wisdom will restore your faith in the human spirit and get you back to the drawing board again. This cd makes you realize that creativity is the basis for everything in life and without it masterpieces like star wars, and masterminds like Lucas would never have become what they are to the world. So definitely get this cd and watch/listen to be inspired or just to take a break from the all negativity going on today.

Not to mention the fantastic zoom and scroll viewing option, behind the scenes feeling of really meeting the man behind the art, and great insider pictures of not only the art but a glimpse of the life of the artist too. Thank you x1000 drew.

The Art of Drew Struzan
The Art of Drew Struzan, is truley an amazing compilation of work, in a unique and wonderfully involving media. Allow me to point out - It is EXTREMELY rare for an artist of this caliber and experience to share so openly and in-depth his work, his thoughts, his motivation, and his technique for creating. I keep my fingers crossed for a follow-up CD containing his other commercial as well as fine art work.

I say a personal thank you to Drew for sharing his gift with the rest of the world through his work and now through this CD.

Information Technology Careers - The Hottest Jobs for the New Millennium

Exercise Caution
A career in IT (if you want to be successful) requires a great deal of your personal time to study new technologies, or even a new programming language (or even a new version of programming language). I have worked with a lot of entry level IT individuals and the drop-out rate is far more than any other position in our company (retail/distributor). I think I understand why these people are failing and returning to their old careers. That is because they have dreamt of landing the entry-level Administrator, or web developer role from the get go. In the IT community there is a great deal of Mentor/Student relationships in companies. A lot of entry-level people are not willing to take direction from individuals that may be many years younger than them, or they have no college education. The few entry-level individuals that have survived and thrived came into the company with a willing to learn, take direction, and honesty with their expectations. In addition, they studied when they went home and took a REAL personal interest in the details of their job. After a few years on mentoring they were more than ready for administration.

This is a great book with lots of detail
I picked this book up because I've just started my studies in IT and I was curious to know what careers there were in the field. This book gave me a nice overview, and focused my energies. I'm not saying what aspect of IT interests me most. :)
The book discusses five central aspects of IT careers: programming, networking, support, databases, and Internet-related stuff. Further, the book is detailed and describes the different areas of IT in-depth, and gives extensive resources for further reading. I actually read this book in one day. It was captivating.

Five Stars
Excellent guide for career changers -- detailed, informative and well written.

The Sign of the Twisted Candles (Nancy Drew Mystery Stories)
Published in Hardcover by Applewood Books (December, 1996)
Authors: Carolyn Keene, Russell H. Tandy, and Carolyn G. Hart
Average review score:

An Excellent Story
This review concerns both the original 1933 edition and the revised 1968 edition, which is the one with which most younger readers would be familiar. Both books have a similar story; except the revised edition is shorter, some characters names were changed and some events were either eliminated or altered. During a storm, Nancy, Bess and George seek shelter at an old tea room. While there, they meet a one hundred year old man named Asa Sidney, as well as an orphaned girl and her dishonest guardians. This launches Nancy into the middle of an old family feud between Asa Sidney's relatives and the relatives of his deceased wife, who happens to have been the sister of Bess and George's great-grandfather. Nancy's involvement in the feud ultimately costs her her friendship with Bess and George. Nancy has a lot of work to do as she tries to end the long-standing feud, repair her friendship with Bess and George, discover the parentage of the orphaned girl and prevent the girl's guardians from stealing the fortune that Asa Sidney has amassed. There really isn't much of a mystery to this book; however, the story more than makes up for that. Like all of the other books in the series, it features unscrupulous people up to something dishonest and Nancy usual desire to help someone in need, but this time she is affected personally because of the loss of her friends. I found the book to be very interesting and the writing was very descriptive (at least in the original version). I recommend reading the original version over the revised edition, if possible, but either way this book should not be missed if you are a fan of Nancy Drew. In my opinion it is one of the 5 best books of the series.

THE BEST BOOK OF THE SERIES!
I own the entire set of the Applewood re-releases, and this was the best of the lot.

Inexplicably the writing of this book was far superior to the rest of the novels in this series (and they were all very good!) Several other readers that I have spoken with agreed that "The Sign of the Twisted Candles" was their fave!

I wonder if a different "ghost writer" worked on this particular novel? Hmmmm... I guess that will remain a mystery!

Masterful!
This is definately a great Nancy Drew mystery. I read a lot of them often, and this one is definately extremely descriptive and you can just be there with Nancy through thick and thin. I was right there the whole time. Certainly a must for readers!
